Hey guys this is a very old question and there are 100+ good answers already. Most of the answers are from an American or Western perspective.

I would like to give an Indian spin to this query and address it from an Indian point of view. I also take the word “best” in the question to mean assured and the highest returns on the capital employed.

Buy some huge tracts of fertile farmland at the outskirts of any Indian city or big town, which you can get at a throw away price. Go ahead and construct some blocks of building thereon, and start a Private Engineering College with some basic amenities. You can be sure to make money which perhaps should make even the great Warren Buffet go green with envy.

If you invest in land but do not wish to put so much effort into starting and running an Engineering college, just put up thatched hut, well furnished and air conditioned, and call it an Ashram. Grow some beard, wear saffron robes and beads around your neck and call yourself some random Swami ji. This way you can make even the great educationists of the previous paragraph come running to you with folded hands.

If you do not have capital even to invest in land, hire some hall or suite in some up market hotel and start either a coaching center for Indian civil service aspirants ( by the way you have a captive pool of over one million such people on Quora itself)

If all these still do not appeal to you, simply become a Motivational Speaker. You will have nothing to lose, and the whole corporate world to gain.
